So you’ve birthed your dream, fine – Congratulations. Now you must raise the dream. You can’t say, I have completed the birth of a child, and so I can now relax, I can sleep the rest of my life away, I can stop now. No, the handwork has only just begun. You have to feed your new reality. You have to bath it, soothe it, and clean it’s mess. You have to draw the potential out of your new reality. While there is victory, breakthrough, jubilation even, at the birth of a dream, that victory is not yet complete. It is just the transcendence from one phase to another. It’s moving from being Birther to being Rearer.

Abraham had achieved his dream of being very rich but now had to let his Cousin Lot, go. Lot was the after birth. Lot was the one that helped Abraham sustain and birth his dream. Lot helped him take care of his flocks, and provided defense when the enemy attacked. But now the dream was born, the after birth had to be expelled. Sounds harsh I know, but it’s a win-win. Lot had to go now. As soon as Abraham let Lot go, God appeared to Him in a vision and delivered the maturity of his dream – Father of many nations.

After the birth of a child, there is the after birth. It’s called the Placenta. This cannot be left inside the mother, it has to be expelled or else there will be heavy bleeding. The after birth was needed for the dream to be born but now must be let go, or it will kill you – not the dream (it’s already born and can now live without you). If you do not get rid of the after birth, you will begin to bleed money, to bleed time, to bleed purpose, energy and ambition. The question now is,  what is that thing that sustained and nurtured your dream, but now must be let go since your dream is born? What is your after birth?

Is not the whole land before thee? separate thyself , I pray thee, from me: if thou wilt take the left hand, then I will go to the right ; or if thou depart to the right hand, then I will go to the left. – Genesis 13:9
