A few years ago, I was at home in Nigeria savoring the country and reminiscing on my childhood. Two days before I was to return to the United States, I lost my International passport along with other items of value. It quickly became apparent that I could not return to work on time. Pastor’s came to pray for me saying the devil had struck. Some people felt sorry for me and this showed in the display of condolent faces. For a moment, I was ruffled but then stopped
and asked that age old question “What is God doing now? That question made a supposedly tragic situation, intriguing – like a puzzle, almost.

People around me thought the end of the world had come and that the devil was hitting at me. I on the other hand thought God was working. I didn’t know what He was doing at the time, but I sure could ask, and I did. To cut a long story short, I was able to return to my work on time.
Within an eight week period, everything I lost was replaced – with extra – and … drum roll… I got a wife. See, what the devil meant for evil, God turned for good but I would have missed this if I didn’t ask the question, What is God doing now?

Man is always looking at what God has done and what He will do in the future but often miss what He is doing today, this hour, NOW. In the midst of uncertainty, God is doing something. Ask Him sincerely, Lord what are you doing now?  And that peace, oh that:

…peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:7

Happy Thanksgiving.
