I was never into American football …until 2007 when I roomed with two godly football fanatics. We watched football every weekend. After a while, I began to understand the game. I quickly learned the names of the players. I became acquainted with their gifts and personalities and enjoyed the general atmosphere football brings to this city. The fact that the Indianapolis Colts won games consistently helped matters. And then there was the quiet coach Tony Dungy, who always thanked the Lord in his interviews. That was it, I was hooked. Very soon, football, the colts, and Tony Dungy became the highlight of my weekend.

A few months ago, I flew to Lagos, Nigeria and on the plane decided to read Tony Dungy’s book, Quiet Strength (long on my read list). Through this book, the Holy Spirit revealed  that we do not need a superstar platform to propagate God’s goodness. We do have a platform now (Be it as teachers, Doctors, students, professionals, whatever), and we must use it NOW. Tony Dungy, as an NFL player used that platform to give God the glory, as an assistant coach, He did the same. As the head coach of a super bowl winning team, he used that platform for God’s glory. Now as a retired coach, author and TV commentator, He is still using his platform for God’s glory. I got to meet Tony Dungy at an Allprodad event hosted by HHGregg in Indianapolis and witnessed his quiet Strength up-close. It is one of those moments in my life that I will always remember. As I drive through my adopted city of Indianapolis, I still see Tony Dungy’s work, his legacy and the glaring message it sends – use your platform, whatever it is, to give God the glory.

Tony Dungy signed this book for me when I met him in 2012

And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him – Colossians 3:17
