As a 15 year old in high school, I had read about paying particular attention to that thing you do which people applaud every time. (By the way, this advice still rings true for you today). For me, it was inspirational speaking and writing. And so I honed this skill, improving as much as I could but then I met a brick wall. After graduation, there just wasn’t an audience. There was no doubt God had called me and equipped me, but He was yet to establish me. This is a key point, hold this thought as we proceed.
Called and Equipped
His parents named him Bezaleel which means “In the protection of God”. (Exodus 31:2) He was born without deformity. Heck he was even of the tribe of Judah, the same blessed lineage Jesus would hail from. As a child, he realized that he had a talent for manipulating wood, above and beyond normal. Many struggled to carve wood, however, when he touched it, the wood became “gold”, a stunning masterpiece. Everyone applauded his mastery with wood. Yet, he was unheralded and obscure. He had done nothing of significance. He faced the quagmire of being called and equipped, yet not being established.
God is Responsible for Establishing You
The call and the equipping does not come hand in hand with the establishing. God has to improve your patience and humility, or else you will exchange your talent for pottage. When the fullness of time came, God established Bezaleel to build His tabernacle. After years of failure, tears, and hardship, God established me with an audience. God has called you. He has equipped you. Now He just needs to establish you, and He will. This is His solemn responsibility. Your responsibility is to yield, trust, obey and don’t quit believing. Listen, observe where He is going, and go along for the ride of a lifetime.
But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while *, make you perfect , establish , strengthen , settle you. – 1 Peter 5:10
