Stick To It

Recently, we had an issue with migrating a server. All that could go wrong, went wrong, but the team stuck to it. For over 22 hours, they kept chipping at the issues, solving them one piece at a time. I even suggested that the team call it a day and live to fight another day, but they were oh so close. The team had come so far, and were not about to let success slip from their reach. They prevailed. It worked. I thought about that as the high five’s commenced. What if they had stopped? After-all, they had tried many times in the past and failed. Would they surely have had the gumption to try again?

A blind man was once brought to Jesus for healing. Jesus saw that this man was to be healed, and He spat in the blind man’s eyes, put his hands around him and asked if he saw. The blind man responded that he saw men like trees. In other words, he saw but his vision was not perfected. At this point, Jesus could have given up. He could have thought that he had done His best and that the man was now seeing better than he did before. But not Jesus. He stuck with it. Jesus put his hands on the man’s eyes again, and asked him to try again. The blind man was restored.

Stick to it. Once you’ve verified that God called you to do it, then stick to it. Once you are sure you were born for this, for this moment, then stick to it. Just a little more, try that new suggestion, try that new idea. Re-do it again. Back track for a moment and do it again. Read the manual, ask the questions, contact people whom you feel may be of some help. Stick to it. Try as many times as you may, but stick to it. If you don’t do it, who can? You can do it. For this reason you were born. Stick to it.
