One of my favorite scriptures says that after you have suffered a while, or as I will put it – after you have served a while – God will perfect you, establish you, strengthen you, and then settle you. Read each of those promises closely. Isn’t that what you want? To be established in your ministry or business, or family, or in your personal life. To be strengthened – oh the Lord knows we need His strength to get through this thing we call life. We don’t like it when we sin, wanting instead to be perfected. And we do want to be settled or rewarded. The way to all these is through service.

Moses and Joseph served their respective Pharaohs. Elisha served Elijah. Jacob served Laban – for more than 14 years. Jesus served his earthly father, Joseph, at the Carpenter Shop, and served his heavenly Father in the temple as well, (going about doing his father’s business). Abraham served the 3 strangers who unbeknownst to him, were angels, and received the actualization of his promised son, Isaac. Do you see where I am going with this?

In the Igbo tribe of Nigeria, there is a cultural practice where a young man serves a more elderly man for a particular period of time, with little or no compensation, learning the trade. After this period is over, the elderly man then establishes the younger man with a business of his own – in other words, the younger man is established and settled. He is also more skilled/ perfect at his craft and strengthened as well. It’s how my dad got his start, serving his uncle. It’s how I got my start, serving my dad. This principle works even better when you serve God. It is a way to not just be called but also be chosen by God. I’m hoping you find ways this week, to serve the Lord.

“But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.”. – 1 Peter 5:10

International travel to Asia is still limited. Yet I recently was able to preach live, to hundreds of people in a crusade at Punjab, India via Zoom. I preached this same message I just shared with you: “Serve the Lord”. You can watch it here on Youtube: https://youtu.be/pQOr7SZTMXI  – and leave your comments.

Testimony

Thank you so much for the prayer and also for instructing me, Sir, on what to do. I’ve been having glorious times in my sleep and no more ungodly dreams at all. – Nigel Kaseke.

Let me know how I can pray for you. Jesus Christ loves you and so do I. Until next time.
