This week is Thanksgiving holiday in the United States so let me be the first to wish you and your wonderful family, a happy Thanksgiving. I am thankful for you, and your journey, and how that you remain steadfast in Christ Jesus, through thick and thin.
I recently led a Pastors Conference in India via Zoom, and I talked about Service. You know, to minister means to serve, so as ministers, we are essentially servants. Many these days want to become masters, and nobody wants to serve. Better still, many want to be masters without serving first. Forgetting that even Jesus, master of all, didn’t come to this world to be served, but to serve.
Jesus said, every high mountain shall be brought low, and every valley shall be exalted. He said to humble yourself, and He will exalt you. That after we have served, would He establish our ministries. Oh, this is good. He that would be the greatest amongst you, shall be your servant, scriptures say.
My dad’s business partner, Rodney Blower from South Africa opened my eyes to this truth when I was but 15 years old. He said: “Uche, what you are doing now (building websites) is helping people. But with an education, you will be able to help many more people around the world. Notice that the goal is to help many more people around the world. To serve them. As I travel to Countries and see salvations, I am always reminded of this truth. Helping (serving) people and serving God.
It’s the secret to being established in ministry – the way to not merely be called (many are called), but also, be chosen. As you celebrate Thanksgiving with your family, keep this truth in your pocket: if the motive behind what you do is service, you will be perfected, strengthened, established, and rewarded. If service isn’t your motive – then it would be rough. It really would be. Serve then, will you? Farewell.
“But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased; and he that shall humble himself shall be exalted” – Matthew 23-11-12
