As a Christian, I do not live in a vacuum. I live in the real world, just as you do. And so I could barely escape the hashtag #MayPac that flooded my social media feeds last week. I learned Manny Pacquiao rocked Floyd Mayweather with a hard left in the 4th round and then followed up with a flurry of combinations. Floyd could barely stand on his feet. Covered up in a defensive stance, he bought time till he recovered. The bell sounded, ensuring Floyd lived to fight another round. He went on to win a unanimous decision but first was saved by the Bell.

You Are Not Alone

Have you been rocked by a big shot lately? Friends you thought were friends betrayed and left you confused? A job you thought you should have received by now has not yet materialized. A loved one left you out in the cold, with a severe heartache that makes you feel like your heart will explode at any moment. You are not alone in this. David felt the same way when his son Absalom, usurped the throne from him. He winced in pain as he learned that his son has publicly defiled his bed. He retreated in disgrace as Absalom’s relentlessly pursued him. But that was only for a moment, only until the bell sounded. God was faithful to His servant David, saved him and restored him.

He Will Come and Save You

So you are on the receiving end of shot combinations (temptations and tribulations)? One thing you can hang your hat on is that at the end of the round, the bell will sound, saving the day. I don’t care how bad this moment is or how aggressive the enemy may be pounding you. You will be saved from this flurry of self destruction. You will be saved from these punches of sin and unbelief. You will be saved by the faithful God. You will be saved by the bell.

There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it – 1 Corinthians 10:13
