Show Up

I struggled with my grades during a rough season in my University career. One day I stumbled upon "My American Mom" - the lady who first took me to Church when I newly arrived the United States many years ago. She told me words I will never forget. She said: "Uche, if  you will just show up for class, that is a C". There were other things to do to get an A, like study and turn in assignments, but showing up already takes me [...]

Advice Anyway

One thing the Country of Nigeria has to it's advantage is it's respect culture. A respect for elders still runs rampant. Those who have accomplished worthwhile feats are not necessarily loved nor admired, but are respected. The spiritual leaders are also respected insomuch that people call them 'Daddy'. They are not compelled to, but out of respect, they do. The pastor's are trend setters and usually settle disputes. Their words are highly regarded. Who would you prefer to lead culture, pastors or celebrities? A [...]

Temper Your Decision Making With Patience

I asked my mom to hold off on sending resources back home to Nigeria till the next week. The reason for this request was because the resources available were not adequate to meet the need neither was it optimal to defray the sending fees associated with sending money abroad. It was not that the resources would not be sent, it was that patience needed to be exercised until we could fire with point blank accuracy.  My advice was spurned. In professional sports, boxing and soccer [...]

Do Your Passion

As a youngster, believe it or not, my passion was to play video games. I would play it and loose track of time - dawn till dusk. Recently, I have picked up gardening. When I garden, I feel very creative. I enjoy the high I get from stepping back and enjoying what I have just created. Be it the planting of new flowers, or clearing an area that was overgrown with weeds, or simply mowing the lawn - seeing my vision come to life [...]

Stick To It

Recently, we had an issue with migrating a server. All that could go wrong, went wrong, but the team stuck to it. For over 22 hours, they kept chipping at the issues, solving them one piece at a time. I even suggested that the team call it a day and live to fight another day, but they were oh so close. The team had come so far, and were not about to let success slip from their reach. They prevailed. It worked. I thought [...]

Speak To All

I am blessed to have a sizable following on Social Media but this comes with a disadvantage in that I often try to reach everyone at the same time. The Holy Spirit catches me in the midst of this and reminds me to speak to just one person. Don't worry about the other tens of thousands that will see this, just speak to one, the one whom the message is sent to. I've found that if just one person gives their life to Christ, it [...]

Watch For God’s Move, Then Move Quickly

My mom is a planner, she usually has everything planned out and boy does she stick to plans. Recently, God opened a big door she did not expect. It was not part of her plans this year and so she started doubting that the provision will be present. She started up excuses as to why she could not walk through the door God just opened. But God confirmed that He had indeed opened that door, and with that came the provision. I think back [...]
