Moses stood at a crossroads. About to make a decision with far reaching consequence. He could risk his privilege by standing up for his poor and oppressed brethren. Or he could continue to live a life of pleasure, with no effort on his part. I suspect he prayed about this decision, and then chose not to take the path of least resistance. He chose to be on the right side of history, standing arm in arm with his brethren, esteeming their suffering far above his own comfort. Just like Esther, who would come after him, would emulate. This decision costs him 40 years of toil in the wilderness, but ultimately he led the Israelites out of Egypt – Free. Moses aced his crossroads.
Jesus Aced His Crossroads
Kneeling and praying in the garden of Gethsemane, with sweat (like blood) dripping from His brow, the Savior of the world agonized over His next decision. He knew fully well He could summon a garrison of angels to His rescue at anytime. Instead, He chose not to take the path of least resistance. At 33 years of age, in His prime, He esteemed the suffering that birth salvation for millions unheralded, far above the fleeting euphoria of sticking it to the Pharisees. In a few hours, His mother would see Him bleeding, hanging, and so would His followers who believed, He would bring them deliverance from the oppression of the Romans. Thank God Jesus chose to die, or else I won’t be writing this and you won’t be reading it. Jesus aced His crossroads.
Ace Your Crossroads
Proverbs 14:12 says: “There is a way which seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death”. In life, you will come to your crossroads, not once, not twice, but many times. And that decision may be surrendering your life to Jesus Christ today. Your dad, mom, friends and acquaintance can’t make this decision for you. It’s your call. Your progeny depends on this decision, the lives of many around you can be ruined or lifted by this decision. It is at this crossroads, that you pray to the Lord for the uncommon wisdom not to take the path of least resistance, even it means suffering. Alas, I pray that your life, and those around you, are enhanced because you aced your crossroads.
