Happy New Year. There is a festive spirit about and around New Years. There is something new about stepping into the new. Like a new car smell, or the smell of a new born baby, or the excitement of a new opportunity. You feel renewed, the old is gone, and the new year begins with newness. All things have become new it seems. Yet in my experience, I know that a new year does not necessarily translate into a new you. You will still face the same old struggles and devils that have dogged you. The old bad habits may still linger, rage even, as they make their way out of your life. The old friends and foes will still show up on your doorstep and cause laughter and pain; order and mayhem.

What is new about a new year then, is the new opportunities. In a New Year, all things become new, opportunity-wise. You have the opportunity to change or further your career. Once in a lifetime opportunities will arise. My advice to you then, is to watch out for these opportunities and grab them when they become available. To understand the times and the seasons you live in and be prepared to leap, head first, when the timing in right. There will be so much opportunity for you this year. Even in the hard times, look closely, for opportunity is tucked in somewhere within the rubble of pain. This year, I want you to be alert to opportunity. Opportunity to grow as a person, opportunity to advance as a professional, opportunity to serve God in increasing, new, exciting and yes, even painful ways. Welcome!

Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth ; shall ye not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert. – Isaiah 43:19
